Welcome. I’m Asha Falinski, a long‑time Ward 7 resident who believes in accessible leadership and meaningful community engagement. Over the coming months, my focus is to meet residents, listen to your concerns, and understand what matters most to you. These conversations will help ensure community perspectives are clearly represented at City Hall.
Together, we can contribute to a safer, more connected, and thriving Ward 7.
Who Am I?
I have lived in Ward 7 since elementary school, and Mississauga has shaped much of my life. Growing up in this community has given me a deep appreciation for its people, diversity, and opportunities. Professionally, I have built a career in telecommunications real estate, supporting infrastructure projects that help keep communities connected and growing.
I am also a committed community advocate. In 2018, I founded Joy Bags, a grassroots outreach initiative that provides care packages containing essential items to individuals experiencing homelessness. More importantly, Joy Bags serves as a reminder that every person is valued, respected, and not forgotten.
Beyond Joy Bags, I support youth initiatives, volunteer through my church, and am a proud member of the Black Caucus Alliance.
These experiences have strengthened my leadership, problem‑solving, communication, and accountability — skills I bring to my work in the community. I am committed to representing residents with integrity, respect, and responsibility. I will collaborate with City Council, City staff, residents, businesses, neighbourhood associations, and community organizations to help advance practical solutions that benefit Ward 7.
What I Stand For?
Public Safety
Everyone deserves to feel safe in their neighbourhood. I will advocate for investments and partnerships that enhance community safety and improve residents’ quality of life.
Infrastructure
As Mississauga continues to grow, our roads, parks, transit, and public spaces must keep pace. I will support responsible investments that improve infrastructure while planning for future growth. I will also advocate for better planning and coordination of construction projects to help minimize disruptions, reduce traffic congestion where possible, and keep residents and businesses informed throughout the process.
Responsible Budgeting
Residents expect their tax dollars to be managed wisely. I will support transparent decision-making and responsible budgeting that delivers value while protecting essential services.
Affordable Housing
Housing affordability affects people at every stage of life. I will work with Council and community partners to support practical solutions that increase housing options while maintaining strong neighbourhoods.
Supporting Local Businesses
Small businesses are essential to our local economy. I will advocate for policies that help businesses grow, reduce unnecessary barriers, and strengthen Ward 7’s commercial areas.
